WHAT'S YOUR TAKE ON... Adachi Kokajyou?

Today I want to introduce designers (design house?) Adachi Kokajyou whose works I came by through their awesome flyer designs for Angura-kei band Guruguru Eigakan. Adachi Ayame's collages are really inspiring for my own work. Here are some scans of flyers that I actually own. You can see more awesome work on their site. You can see the gallery by clicking on 美術室 on the menu.

I will introduce Guruguru Eigakan's music at some other time- maybe next week!

Holy wow. I mean, some of this stuff is really just like... WOW. So, it's just two people making all this stuff? I need to know more. Here are some of my absolute favorites so far:

Those last few give off the vibe of the Furuya book, Lychee Hikari Club. They are doing a lot of the stuff I aspire to... very exciting to see this!

As a side note, I see that they used that similar exploding hand though a rip in the background image part on their site that I used in EAZ mailer collage :)

Michael - The third one is indeed one of my favorites!

Ryan - I thought you would enjoy this and was hoping hat it would be good inspiration for your own work. :D BTW, Nice choices. Out of the batch you choose I really like #1. I remember when it was just Adachi Ayame and all of the work was done not on the computer. Now I guess it is a two people team with Ayame taking part in a band activities too. Because she used to design lots of band flyers, you used to be able to buy their goods at Like An Edison in Shinjuku, a record store selling mostly visual-kei indies CDs. They do take part in events like Design Festa. If I ever get a chance to be in Japan when one is going on I would really want to check out their booth. I find the multi-color flyers really inspiring.

BTW, I love LHC! It's the manga that got me drawing comics seriously again after not doing so for five years.

Jenn - I wish I could own all of their flyers and postcards and design stuff. I really should get some of the flyers I have framed.

Crazy! Ryan, of the ones you posted, the third is my favorite. I'm always impressed by good flyer design because it's like art that you can grab for yourself once the event has gone by :B I love all the spontaneous multi-layered chaos. Very exciting.
