Photos & Videos from Game Over / Continue at GRSF!
By all accounts, Friday night's previously mentioned GAME OVER / CONTINUE show was a smash success. Turnout was higher than usual for GRSF shows, with a noticeable contingent of Game Developers Conference dudes in full force.
I caught a ride with Cal & Germick (thanks, guys!), and we got there to find Derek on top of a ladder working laptop magic to project their game on a sheet. Eventually, the projector thing was acting a bit too wonky, and all the games were moved to laptops in the gallery space. Four total games were in effect, by the following duos:
Hellen Jo and Derek Yu
Saelee Oh and Anna Anthropy
Souther Salazar and Petri Purho
Deth P. Sun and Jonatan "Cactus" Söderström

While the other games were all interesting (especially mad genius cactus' creation), the Derek + Hellen & Calvin beast was by far the wildest and lushest one. I hear that they are gonna put the .exe up online at some point in the future, and Eric was talking about hosting another game show down in LA in the future
The actual art in the gallery was decently nifty but mostly nothing to write home about, with some repeats from the first show and gimmicky stuff. My personal faves were Tim Gough's Simon & Samus portraits, Johnny Ryan'ss Qbert-sucking-Mario's-dick, 3 small plexiglass Virtual Boy boxes by Kazimir Strzepek, and a Golden Axe-esque plainswalker dude painting by Matt Lock.
