Upcoming art shows: LISA HANAWALT

Okay, so there are basically rad gallery shows by Electric Ant contributors & friends happening in all corners of the country. Just learned about an exciting art show happening in Los Angeles featuring new works from Lisa "Sugarwalls" Hanawalt, our homegirl and contributor to the PLANET X RISES comics jam in issue 2.

Lisa creates creepy and humane illustrations/comics about car crashes, maladies, the human penis, and fancy dress animals. Her stuff has been lauded by folks like Johnny Ryan, Scott McCloud, and Charles Burns, and this will be a good chance to snag original art and hang out with cool folks. (Hellen & Calvin, I saw you guys are going?)

The opening is Feb. 5, 8-10PM at Secret Headquarters in LA at 3817 W. Sunset Blvd.

Lisa will unleash a tornado of recent drawings and paintings this February, featuring animals, fine carpets and crashed cars. Lisa is the author of the comic book "I Want You" and Ignatz-Award winning mini "Stay Away From Other People." Her comics and illustrations have been published in Vice Magazine, McSweeney's, The Believer, LA Weekly and Arthur. She currently lives in Brooklyn.

Join Lisa Hanawalt on Friday for some drinks and defensive driving tips!
