What's Your Take On... PUCK?
Hey crew,
Unless you happened to troll around Thai drawing blogs like I was doing last week, you probably haven't heard of the artist who goes by Puck online. Long story short, I found his site and a few others following back some incoming Same Hat traffic and then going down the rabbit hole that way. Since his blog is in Thai, and I haven't found much other information about him other than that he's 24 and from Bangkok. I do know that he does a mix of color & black and white work, some t-shirt/apparel designs and also what looks like spot illustrations for publications occasionally. Some of the subject matter is all over the place, but a lot of his work really strikes my fancy. His composition even in casual sketches is pretty compelling, and his lines have a clean shaky feel that reminds me of Minetaro Mochizuki (Dragon Head). The biggest pull for me is his use of color. It's similar when he does it well to some prints by Michael's friend Jesjit Gill and some other cartoonists I love like Jon Vermilyea. I am really digging the neon green and pink and purple color palette. I am definitely a big fan of this guy... what's your take?Check out more on his blog, with categories for comics, sketches, and puck world.
