YOU'RE A PERV WITH A CAPITAL "P"!

While visiting the talented Alice Sola Kim this past weekend, we learned about a rad all-girl proto-punk band called The Welders!  The band was made up of a rotating lineup of 15-19 yr old teenagers (including Asian-American sisters Caroline and Jane!).

We were stoked to find out about this strange St. Louis girl group, and charmed to hear at their first ever show they played three covers--- including a Troggs song and "I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You" by the Ramones(!!).

The Welders recently had a 4-track 7" of their early songs released on BDR Records, and a cover story on the Feb 2011 issue of Maximum RockNRoll. Check out these two jams, "P-E-R-V-E-R-T" and "S.O.S. Now" :

S.O.S. stands for "Stamp Out Sex", a rad pro-prude anthem that echoes Diana Lane's stage banter in the famous mall scene in "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains"  ('What don't we do? WE DON'T PUT OUT!'), as well as Bush Tetras' NYC anthem "Too Many Creeps".

You can order their 7" (featuring these two songs, plus two others) from BDR Records mailorder.

Pretty rad. Can't help wishing that they'd thrown some sax in, though!

@Jane: Thank you for leaving a comment! I loved learning about The Welders and we really enjoyed the songs :) I just added The Welders on facebook and may get in contact with you with a few additional questions if you don't mind!

@Swarm: Oh bummer! For folks that want a copy of this limited 7", we saw that they have 3-4 copies left at Euclid Records in St. Louis (by the register):

I bet if folks call Euclid they might be able to snag one of those final copies, since Euclid does a lot of mail order?
